About Jamie

Special Effects Character Creator and Master Monster Maker, Jamie Grove, is a self-taught special effects makeup artist who started painting creatures and characters when he was 13 years old.

As a young man, the films that sparked Jamie’s imagination and interest were JAWS, HALLOWEEN, and, of course, THE TERMINATOR. Instead of being frightened by sharks, robots, and psycho killers, Jamie found himself wondering, “How did they do that?” Thus began Jamie’s lifelong passion for special makeup effects, which continues to this day.

Fortunate to have his character creation skills embraced and appreciated by the creature effects industry, Jamie's been an in-demand character FX artist for the last 15 years.

Jamie considers himself lucky to have worked on some of the biggest films ever made at some of the most respected shops in the business, including Stan Winston Studio, Legacy Effects, Amalgamated Dynamics, and Gary J. Tunnicliffe's Two Hours in the Dark, Inc. among others.

Gary J. Tunnicliffe, owner of Two Hours in the Dark and master designer of horror makeup effects says,

“Jamie Grove has an unparalleled eye for realism matched with an unprecedented knowledge of effects materials that, coupled with his easy-going manner, make him a ‘triple threat’ in the competitive world of special makeup effects artisans. Whether it's naturalistic flesh tones, high luster metallic finishes, or matching multiple prosthetic pieces, Jamie Grove is at the top of his game. Quite simply, he is one of the best in the business.”
