Denise Baer

Master hair artist and Stan Winston School teacher, Denise Baer entered the industry in 1991 when she was hired by Oscar-nominated and Emmy award-winning makeup effects artist Richard Snell to work on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

After experiencing all facets of makeup effects production, Denise discovered her passion for hair work and from that point forward she dedicated herself solely to specialty hair work, in particular, hair punching.

She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and hair direction. With speed and ability, she delivers under pressure working with all mediums (foam latex, silicone, etc.). Although her vast experience is mostly in hair punching, she is also highly proficient in ventilating lace and spandex.

Denise has in excess of 30 feature films on her resume and has worked for some of the industry’s most respected talents, including Tom Woodruff Jr., Alec Gillis, Tony Gardner, Steve Wang, Gary J. Tunnicliffe, Justin Raleigh, Jordu Schell, Kazu Tsuji, Rob Burman, Greg Nicotero, Howard Berger and multi-Oscar winners Rick Baker and the late Stan Winston, working on prosthetic pieces, animatronic characters, and some of the most lifelike display pieces ever seen.
